Why is There a Market Demand for Wireless Ebike Charging Stations?
Why is there a market demand for wireless ebike charging stations?Let's start with the shared rental market.
Shared Rental Market
E-bikes and scooters are deployed on the streets for users to rent, and operators manage these vehicles from a backend system. When some vehicles run low on battery, maintenance personnel need to go and replace the batteries, taking the low-battery ones back to the warehouse for charging.
In this entire operation, battery swapping is done in this way, requiring maintenance personnel to go to different locations on the streets to swap batteries, which leads to high operational and management costs.
This is especially significant in countries where labor is expensive, resulting in substantial maintenance costs.
Furthermore,if battery swapping is not done on time, vehicles may not be fully available for users, affecting operational revenue, etc.
The wireless ebike charging station work for e-bike rentals.
Users scan a code at the charging station to unlock the ebike. After the ride, they can return the ebike to any of the available stations(operators set up stations at different locations, such as A,B,C,D,etc.Users can rent a bike from Station A and return it to Station B,C,D,etc.).
The work flow for plug-and-charge of ebike charging station
The interaction between the ebike charging station and the ebike involves vehicle-station IoT technology.
The wireless charging station has a TX(transmitter)module fixed inside the station, and it also contains a ebike-locking system.
The RX(receiver)module is installed on the bike. The RX module has a locking hook at the front. It has two wires:one connects to the ebike's battery, and the other connects to the ebike's IoT system.
When a user returns the ebike to the station, they simply push the ebike into the ebike charging station. The TX and RX modules make contact, enabling contact-based charging. The RX module sends power to the ebike’s battery via the wire connected to the battery.
At the same time, the RX's locking hook engages with the lock inside the ebike charging station, securing the ebike in place.
For the next user to access the ebike, they must scan the QR code to unlock the station's lock, allowing them to pull the ebike out and start their ride.
The Role of the Vehicle-Station IoT device
The IoT system of the ebike charging station serves to report the station's status in real-time,such as whether a ebike is docked and charging or not.It also tracks charging data, including how long the ebike has been charging, whether it has been fully charged, and stops charging once it is complete.Additionally, any station malfunctions, such as issues with charging, are reported through the station's IoT system, including lock control and other functions.
Why does the ebike also need an smart electric ebike lock?
The electric ebike lock on the ebike serves the same purpose as with regular shared ebikes:it allows the operator to track and monitor the ebike during the ride, including tracking the ebike's location and handling situations like users locking the ebike to rest along the way.
