  Many Cities Build a Fully Connected Green Public Bicycle System

  Since 2016,different districts of Hangzhou have successively launched public bicycles in Qingshan Lake Science City and the main urban area.In line with urban development planning and citizens' travel needs,the scale of the public bicycle system has continued to expand and improve.As of now,there are 204 stations and 4,170 bicycles in operation,with full interconnectivity across the district,essentially forming a well-developed green urban transportation network.Many of these bicycles are equipped with smart bike locks,allowing users to easily unlock and secure bikes via bike sharing apps,which enhances convenience and ensures orderly parking across the city.

  Public E-Bikes Boost Short-Distance Travel in Hangzhou

  In 2020,a supporting public bicycle sharing system was introduced alongside Hangzhou Metro Line 16,accelerating urban mobility and further releasing demand for short-distance travel among local residents.In October 2022,the district launched its first batch of public e-bikes,with 79 stations and 500 e-bikes deployed.The weekly turnover rate exceeded seven uses per bike,making the program part of the district's key livelihood initiatives and receiving wide public praise.These public e-bikes feature IoT-enabled smart bike locks,which not only provide secure,convenient access for riders but also allow operators to monitor usage and parking in real time,ensuring efficient and reliable service.

  Public E-Bikes Strengthen Hangzhou's Integrated Urban Transport System

  In recent years,districts across Hangzhou have continued to enhance their ecological image and improve the public e-bike travel network.After three years of development,the operating scale has reached 2,000 e-bikes and 188 stations,largely meeting citizens' travel needs.Public e-bikes have become an important component of urban public transport connections and play a key role in creating an integrated slow-traffic system with urban transit.The district is also accelerating the development of a seamless travel model that integrates public bicycles,public e-bikes,and public transport.

  Innovation Application

  To better promote the construction of a“Beautiful and Happy New City,”enhance the district's overall urban capacity,and solve the“last mile”problem for citizens,while further improving low-carbon travel options,the city is upgrading from bicycles to e-bikes.This system is effectively connected with existing public transport and bicycle networks,forming a complete slow-traffic network across the district.

  Technical Solution

  The public e-bike system has introduced IoT-enabled smart bike locks,which integrate multiple technologies such as geo-fences,positioning piles,docking racks,and GPS tracking.These ensure greater rental stability while also providing designated rental points near residential areas,shopping centers,and high-traffic zones.This setup meets citizens’travel demands while ensuring the orderly parking and management of public e-bikes,becoming a model for regulated urban operations.Meanwhile,through a comprehensive management platform,the system monitors station and vehicle status in real time,enabling scientific dispatching,timely battery replacement/charging,and enhanced service quality.
